Inhale 2016
9 Minutes
In this photo-installation, I use time and light to explore the fragile boundaries between life and death. The images, housed in lightboxes with matte glass, flicker on and off every 9 minutes. This specific duration references two significant moments: the 9 minutes it takes for a baby to be delivered via caesarean section, and the 9 minutes of oxygen deprivation experienced during choking. By repeating this rhythm, I aim to draw attention to the fleeting nature of life and the delicate balance that exists between life’s beginning and its potential end. The work invites viewers to pause and reflect on time, existence, and the vulnerability of the human condition.
