Tehran, Darband: A Landscape of Absence
The “Tehran, Darband” series explores the interplay between place, memory, and anonymity. Darband, a region rich in cultural symbolism, becomes a metaphorical prison—a space defined by absence and decay rather than vitality.
The miniature animals juxtaposed against desolate urban landscapes evoke dislocation and loss. They symbolize remnants of innocence, trapped in ruins shaped by human neglect. The series reflects on how spaces lose their identity, transforming into fragments of forgotten familiarity.
By confronting the dualities of presence and erasure, reality and artifice, the work invites viewers to consider the legacy of places erased by time and neglect. Ultimately, “Tehran, Darband” is a meditation on impermanence and the human tendency to consume and abandon the spaces that once defined us.
